Before registering a vehicle with an out of state title, a vehicle identification inspection is necessary.
This is done in Leavenworth on Tuesdays and Thursdays only at 2401 Spruce in Leavenworth at the KDOT Building-west on Spruce St. past 20th St., ¼ of a mile, right side from 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Phone: (913) 651-9655
The inspection requires the vehicle, the original out of state title, current drivers license and a $10.00 fee. If you do not have the original title, please call the County Treasurer’s office for further instruction. Phone: (913) 684-0430. In some cases, a Salvage or Rebuilt Salvage inspections can be done at this location. Please call inspection station.
