Treasurer's Office

The County Treasurers Office is responsible for collection of real estate, personal property and motor vehicle taxes, special assessments and other miscellaneous taxes for Leavenworth County . The Treasurer apportions and distributes such revenue to local taxing units. In addition, the Treasurer is responsible for the title and registration application of motor vehicles, performs the function of a bank for all revenue-generating County departments and invests tax dollars.

Janice A. Young serves as the County Treasurer.

The County Treasurer is elected to a four-year term in the year of a Presidential Election. The term begins in October after the general election. Janice was appointed to this office in August of 1998, elected to her first term in November 2000 and took office in October of 2001. She was elected again in 2004.

Our office is currently located in the courthouse at 300 Walnut Street , 1st floor, suite 105.

Our Annex is located at 425 Laming Rd., Tonganoxie (underneath the water tower on Highway 24/40). The Annex, besides collecting tax money and registering vehicles, can renew Kansas Driver License, issue ID cards, register voters and sell county maps. Drivers License renewals are done on Tuesday thru Friday from 8:00AM to 4:00PM.

We now accept Master Card, Visa, Discover, American Express, and Debit Cards as forms of payment for vehicle registration and tax payments, when you come into our office.
