OTHER INTERVENTIONS |
In addition to the Graduated Sanctions and Prevention Programs that are funded annually by State Block Grants, our district seeks other funding opportunities to help promote services that support the district’s overall Strategic Plan. Additional grants may include federal funds, such as Juvenile Accountability Block Grant (JABG) and Title V.
The First Judicial District currently utilizes these federal opportunities to fund Conditional Release Officers and the Leavenworth Truancy Reduction Project, both of which are important intervention services for youth demonstrating behaviors that may require a high degree of attention to avoid future involvement in the juvenile justice system.
During State Fiscal Year 2007, the district was granted additional state funds specifically to provide intensive family services, through The Guidance Center, to serious and chronic youthful offenders who are at risk for removal from their homes. The temporary restoration of Multi-systemic Therapy for Atchison and Leavenworth families is a vital resource.
The Juvenile Corrections Advisory Board is an essential oversight body of these intervention and other grant programs in the local juvenile justice system.|
