FLOODPLAIN INSURANCE INFORMATION AND HELPFUL TIPS

The new floodplain maps became effective on August 18, 2009. If a building has been constructed in compliance with a specific FIRM (Flood Insurance Rate Map), and that FIRM gets revised, the owner is eligible to obtain a policy using the zone and base flood elevation information from the previous FIRM, provided that proof is submitted to the insurance company. If the structure is located outside of the flood hazard area, an application for LOMA OAS may be submitted to FEMA with proof.
