BIOTERRORISM

The Leavenworth County Health Department is currently updating and revising its Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Plan.  The Plan has been developed to prepare for the public health agency's activities prior to and following a bioterrorism event or other public health emergency.  The Leavenworth County Health Department is working in cooperation with local health care providers, a regional group of five Kansas Counties and the State of Kansas to monitor, evaluate and respond to any incidence of communicable disease and other illnesses of known or unknown origin.

The Leavenworth County Health Department has established a working task force of public and private health care providers and local and federal agencies to cooperate and assist each other in planning, preparedness, training, and operations before and during public health emergencies.  The agencies and providers involved include public health, hospitals, schools, community health, law enforcement and emergency management among others.

In the event of any public health emergency, information and instructions for the public will be available at this web site.
