The Leavenworth County Counselor's Office is responsible for representing the various county departments in all property tax appeals. Taxpayers who are unhappy with the value established by the Leavenworth County Appraiser's office or the mill levy set by the County may appeal these issues. The laws mandating the requirements and methods of appeal can be found in chapter 79 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated. These statutes can be accessed online at www.kslegislature.org/cgi-bin/statutes/index.cgi . Specific forms are required to appeal. Depending upon which type of appeal the taxpayer intends to pursue, these forms can be obtained by visiting either the Appraiser's Office, the Treasurer's Office or the County Clerk's Office. The forms and instructions can also be obtained on line at accesskansas.

The Leavenworth County Counselor's Office is also responsible for the collection of all delinquent property taxes, both personal and real. We conduct a tax foreclosure sale annually, usually in early fall. If you would like to be contacted with information regarding properties to be auctioned, please e-mail us at tsaldivar@leavenworthcounty.org . You will be contacted when an actual date has been set. Be sure to provide your name, mailing address and e-mail address.

If you have any questions you feel this department can address, contact us by phone or e-mail. We are here to serve you: the Leavenworth County taxpayer!
